The beginning of June is expected to be hot for Dynamo Academy.
And it's not only connected with the high temperature outside, but also with the tournament where Philip Sokolinskiy’s team will take part. The city of Bilbao will host the 20th international competition – Torneo Piru Gainza – which is very prestigious and traditionally attracts the attention of the entire European football community.
The tournament will last only two days, but during this time Dynamo will not be bored. The group stage matches are scheduled on June 2nd and the final matches are to be played the next day. In total, the Basque Country will unite six teams, divided into two groups. The White-Blues entered the Group 2 where they will compete with Real Sociedad and RC Celta de Vigo. The parallel group is comprised of Bilbao U-16 team, Real Madrid C.F. and Athletic Bilbao.
The format of the competition is quite simple: two teams that are winners in their triumvirates qualify for the final; the second-place teams will play for the bronze medal; and finally the outsiders of two groups will face each other in the consolation match.
In previous years, famous players such as Antoine Griezmann, Denis Cheryshev, Fernando, Marcos Alonso, Dani Carvajal, Jordi Alba and many others were named Torneo Piru Gainza’s MVPs. Perhaps we will see the birth of a new football star.
Our team's schedule of matches is the following (Moscow time):
June 2nd
FC Dynamo – RC Celta de Vigo – 12:15,
FC Dynamo – Real Sociedad – 20:00
June 3rd
Match for 5-6th place – 10:00,
